What does 105 mean?

An internal fault related to the device's memory has occurred. This typically indicates a hardware issue that requires specialized attention.

Common Causes

  • Corrupted firmware: The device's primary firmware or bootloader in Flash memory has become corrupted, preventing proper initialization.
  • Faulty RAM/EEPROM: Malfunctioning or degraded internal volatile (RAM) or non-volatile (EEPROM) memory chips on the control board.
  • Processor failure: A critical failure of the main processor or its memory interface, which can manifest as memory access errors.
  • Power supply ripple/instability: Poor quality or unstable internal power rails (e.g., 3.3V, 5V for memory ICs) causing memory read/write errors.
  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD): Damage to sensitive memory components due to an ESD event during handling or operation.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Perform a full factory reset (e.g., P0-10 = 110 or 120, depending on manufacturer options for complete memory re-initialization) to attempt to clear any persistent memory corruption.

  2. 2

Power cycle the device and observe if the fault immediately returns or if it occurs intermittently, which might suggest thermal issues or degraded components.

  3. 3

Ensure the device's control voltage supply (e.g., 24VDC for control board) is stable and within specified limits; measure for ripple using an oscilloscope if possible.

  4. 4

If the device has a replaceable memory module (e.g., SD card, memory stick), try replacing it with a known-good, pre-programmed module.

  5. 5

This fault often indicates a non-field-serviceable hardware failure of the control board; document the fault code and contact manufacturer support for board replacement.
