AddData DlErr Error during FLASH memory access

Lenze · 9300 Series

What does 252 mean?

An error occurred when downloading data into the FLASH memory. This can be caused by a time-out, transmission error, or a mains failure during the data transfer process, resulting in incomplete or corrupt data.

Common Causes

  • Intermittent power supply interruption (brownout, voltage sag) during a FLASH memory write or erase cycle (e.g., parameter save, firmware update).
  • Faulty or degraded FLASH memory chip on the drive's control board, causing write failures.
  • Data transmission error during download (e.g., corrupted communication cable, electromagnetic interference on communication lines).
  • Firmware bug or corrupted firmware image attempting an invalid FLASH operation.
  • Exceeded FLASH memory write/erase cycle limits due to excessive parameter changes or updates (rare in normal operation).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power cycle the drive and attempt the data download or parameter save operation again.

  2. 2

    2. Measure the incoming line voltage (L1, L2, L3) and control power supply voltage (e.g., 24VDC) during the write process to detect transient sags.

  3. 3

    3. Use a different communication cable (e.g., USB, Ethernet) to connect to the drive for parameter download, checking for damage or poor shielding.

  4. 4

    4. Reduce the amount of data being written to FLASH at one time, if possible, or try a partial parameter download.

  5. 5

    5. If performing a firmware update, re-download the firmware file from a trusted source to ensure it's not corrupted, then retry the update process.
