EEr

External monitoring triggered

Lenze · 9300 Series

What does EEr mean?

An external monitoring function has been triggered via DCTRL, meaning a digital signal assigned to the TRIP-SET function has been activated. This indicates an external safety or control system has detected an issue.

Common Causes

  • External safety circuit (e.g., E-stop button, light curtain) connected to a digital input (e.g., X1.1, X1.2) assigned to TRIP-SET has been activated.
  • Auxiliary contact of an external protective device (e.g., motor thermal overload relay, pressure switch) wired to a digital input configured for TRIP-SET changed state.
  • Faulty wiring or loose connection on the digital input terminal (e.g., X1.1, X1.2) causing an intermittent or false trigger of the external monitoring function.
  • Incorrect parameterization of the digital input function (e.g., P0-01 to P0-08 assignment) for the intended external monitoring device.
  • Power supply issue (e.g., 24VDC external supply) to the external monitoring device, causing its output contact to open or close incorrectly.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Identify which digital input (e.g., DI1, DI2) is configured for "TRIP-SET" in parameters P0-01 through P0-08 and check its current status in the diagnostic menu (e.g., C0001).

  2. 2

Inspect the external safety circuit or monitoring device connected to the identified digital input for activation (e.g., E-stop pressed, limit switch opened). Reset or rectify the external condition.

  3. 3

Measure the voltage between the active digital input terminal (e.g., X1.1) and the common (e.g., X1.5 or 0V) to verify the signal state (e.g., 24VDC for ON, 0VDC for OFF).

  4. 4

Check the wiring continuity from the external monitoring device's output contact to the drive's digital input terminal (e.g., X1.1).

  5. 5

Temporarily disconnect the external monitoring signal from the drive's digital input terminal (e.g., X1.1) and apply a known valid signal (e.g., 24VDC or 0VDC depending on configuration) to rule out external device failure.
