What does P13 mean?

The phase controller limit has been reached, meaning the drive cannot follow the digital frequency due to hitting its Imax limit. This indicates the drive is being commanded beyond its current capability, potentially causing instability.

Common Causes

  • Insufficient motor torque or drive current capability (e.g., P1-54 or P1-55) to accelerate or hold the load against opposing forces.
  • Excessive mechanical load or sudden load change exceeding the motor's dynamic capabilities, forcing the motor to fall too far behind.
  • Incorrectly tuned current controller (e.g., C0207, C0208) leading to slow current response.
  • Digital frequency command (e.g., via fieldbus or analog input) accelerating too rapidly or demanding too high a speed.
  • Motor or drive suffering from internal degradation (e.g., demagnetized motor magnets, failing power components) reducing effective torque.

    Monitor the actual motor current (e.g., C0004) and compare it against the drive's instantaneous current limit (P1-54, P1-55); if consistently hitting the limit, adjust P1-54 upwards within motor ratings.

    Verify mechanical system integrity for any increased friction, binding, or sudden load changes that could demand excessive torque.

    Adjust the current controller gains (C0207 for P gain, C0208 for I gain) if the current response is sluggish, following manufacturer guidelines.
