x057

OH7 Motor temperature > C0121

Lenze · 9300 Series

What does x057 mean?

The motor temperature has exceeded the specific threshold value set in parameter C0121, detected via resolver or incremental value encoder. This indicates the motor is thermally overloaded due to impermissible continuous current or frequent/long acceleration processes. This is an advance warning for motor overheating. This monitoring can be switched off via C0584.

Common Causes

  • Motor operating with current consistently exceeding its rated value (C0091), causing heat generation that approaches the warning threshold C0121.
  • Inefficient motor cooling due to partially obstructed motor fan, dirty motor fins, or slightly elevated ambient temperature (e.g., >40°C).
  • Parameter C0121 (Motor temperature warning threshold) is set too low relative to the motor's thermal characteristics and application.
  • Mechanical load conditions (e.g., higher torque demand, increased friction) causing the motor to work harder and generate more heat.
  • Slight drift or calibration issue with the motor temperature sensor (e.g., KTY or PTC at X8/5, X8/8), causing an inaccurate reading.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the actual motor current (e.g., using an AC clamp meter) during operation and compare it to the motor nameplate rated current (Ir).

  2. 2

Inspect the motor's cooling fan and clean any dust or debris from the motor cooling fins.

  3. 3

Review and potentially adjust parameter C0121 (Motor temperature warning threshold) to a value consistent with the motor's thermal limits.

  4. 4

Measure the resistance of the motor temperature sensor (e.g., between X8/5 and X8/8 for KTY) and compare it to the manufacturer's temperature curve.

  5. 5

Check for any mechanical issues in the driven load that might increase the motor's torque demand unnecessarily.
