0x2382

Fault - Device utilization (ixt) too high

Lenze · i550 Protec Drive

What does 0x2382 mean?

This fault indicates that the inverter's device utilization (I²t) is excessively high, typically caused by frequent and/or prolonged acceleration processes. This condition is configurable and causes the inverter to disable immediately, requiring a 3-second blocking time before a reset.

Common Causes

  • Frequent and/or prolonged acceleration and deceleration cycles in the application, causing high transient currents that exceed the inverter's thermal (I²t) limits.
  • Motor size or mechanical load is mismatched with the inverter's capacity, leading to the inverter consistently operating at or near its I²t limit.
  • Inadequate cooling for the inverter due to obstructed cooling fans, clogged heatsink fins, or a malfunctioning cooling system.
  • Incorrect I²t monitoring parameters (e.g., P0-21 for inverter thermal model time constant) configured, leading to inaccurate thermal state calculation.
  • High ambient temperature around the inverter, reducing its effective cooling capacity below specified limits (e.g., 40-50°C).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Review application acceleration and deceleration ramp times (e.g., P1-10, P1-11); increase ramp times to reduce peak currents if the application allows.

  2. 2

Reduce the mechanical load on the motor if it is consistently high, or consider upsizing the inverter if the load cannot be reduced.

  3. 3

Inspect inverter cooling fans for proper operation and clean the heatsink fins to ensure optimal heat dissipation.

  4. 4

Verify the inverter's I²t thermal model parameters (e.g., P0-21, P0-22) are correctly set according to the application and environmental conditions.

  5. 5

Measure the ambient temperature inside the electrical cabinet and ensure it is within the inverter's specified operating range.

  6. 6

Check motor parameters (P0-11 for rated power, P0-12 for rated current, P0-13 for rated speed) for accuracy as they influence the inverter's internal thermal model.
