0x2388

SL-PSM stall detection active

Lenze · i550 Protec Drive

What does 0x2388 mean?

This trouble code signifies an overload of the motor under sensorless control for synchronous motors (SL-PSM). When active, the inverter immediately disables, and the motor will coast.

Common Causes

  • Motor shaft physically jammed or encountering significant mechanical resistance, exceeding its rated torque.
  • Insufficient motor sizing or incorrect SL-PSM parameterization for the application's load profile (e.g., P300.00, P304.00).
  • Excessive load inertia combined with rapid acceleration/deceleration demands, causing the motor to fall out of synchronous speed.
  • Degradation of motor windings or rotor magnets reducing torque production efficiency, leading to perceived overload.
  • Incorrect motor data (e.g., P300.00, P301.00, P302.00) entered into the drive's SL-PSM configuration, leading to inaccurate torque estimation.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify that the mechanical load on the motor shaft is not obstructed or excessively high. Manually rotate the shaft if safe to do so.

  2. 2

    Review and re-enter motor nameplate data (P300.00, P301.00, P302.00, P304.00) carefully, then re-run auto-tuning if available.

  3. 3

Reduce acceleration/deceleration rates (e.g., P2-10, P2-11) to decrease instantaneous torque demands during speed changes.

  4. 4

Monitor actual motor current (0x6078) and estimated torque via diagnostics during operation to identify overload conditions.

  5. 5

Measure motor winding resistance and inductance (between U-V, V-W, W-U terminals) and compare to specifications to detect degradation.
