OL

Stall prevention (Over current)

Mitsubishi Electric · A500 Inverter

What does OL mean?

This is a warning indication for stall prevention due to overcurrent, not a hard stop. If the motor current exceeds 150% (factory default, adjustable) of the rated inverter current during acceleration, constant-speed operation, or deceleration, the inverter will adjust the frequency (stop increasing, lower, or stop decreasing respectively) to prevent an overcurrent shutdown. Frequency is restored once current drops below the threshold.

Common Causes

  • Motor current exceeds a predefined stall prevention threshold (P1-18).
  • Excessive torque demand leading to motor current rise.
  • Mechanical binding or blockage of the driven equipment.
  • Insufficient motor power for the applied load.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure the actual motor load current during operation and compare it to 150% of the inverter's rated current.

  2. 2

Reduce the mechanical load on the motor.

  3. 3

Increase the stall prevention operation level by adjusting parameter Pr. 22.

  4. 4

Verify the stall prevention operation selection parameter Pr. 156 if disabling this function is desired.
