Inverter reset

Inverter Reset

Mitsubishi Electric · FR-D700 Inverter

What does Inverter reset mean?

The reset signal (RES signal) is ON, causing the inverter to immediately shut off its output. This indicates that a reset command has been issued, either manually through a control signal or automatically by the system, placing the inverter in a non-operational state.

Common Causes

  • The external reset input (RES terminal) is continuously activated due to a wiring fault (e.g., short to common) or a stuck external relay contact.
  • An external control system (e.g., PLC) is erroneously sending a continuous ON signal to the inverter's RES terminal.
  • The inverter's internal reset button (if present) is stuck in the ON position or has been pressed accidentally.
  • A temporary power glitch causing the reset circuit to activate.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the wiring to the RES terminal on the inverter's control terminal block for any shorts or damage.

  2. 2

Verify the status of the external reset command source (e.g., PLC output, physical button) using a multimeter to confirm it is OFF.

  3. 3

Temporarily disconnect the wire from the RES terminal and observe if the inverter powers on without the reset error.

  4. 4

Check the inverter's event log for recurring faults that might automatically trigger a reset (e.g., overcurrent, overvoltage).

  5. 5

Cycle power to the inverter and then re-enable the external reset signal, if applicable, to test its functionality.
