Retry count excess

Retry Count Excess

Mitsubishi Electric · FR-D700 Inverter

What does Retry count excess mean?

The inverter has failed to restart within the set number of retries after a preceding error or trip. This indicates a persistent underlying problem that the inverter's automatic recovery attempts could not resolve, requiring manual intervention to prevent further issues.

Common Causes

  • Persistent underlying fault (e.g., overcurrent, overvoltage) that the inverter repeatedly attempts to clear without success.
  • Autorestart attempts (Pr. 136) set too high while the root cause of the initial trip remains unaddressed.
  • Mechanical problem (e.g., sticky brake, high friction load) that prevents successful motor restart.
  • Instability in the power supply causing repetitive short-duration trips.
  • Inadequate delay time (Pr. 137) between retry attempts, not allowing enough time for conditions to normalize.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Identify and resolve the initial fault code that triggered the retries (check fault history, e.g., Pr. 093, Pr. 094).

  2. 2

Reduce the number of autorestart attempts (Pr. 136) to 0 or a low value for diagnostic purposes.

  3. 3

Increase the autorestart delay time (Pr. 137) to allow more time for system recovery between attempts.

  4. 4

Inspect the mechanical load for any binding or issues that would prevent a smooth restart (e.g., manually rotate the shaft).

  5. 5

Monitor the incoming power supply voltage for stability and transient events using a power quality analyzer.
