E.AIE

Analog Input Fault

Mitsubishi Electric · Mitsubishi FR-E800 Variable Frequency Drive

What does E.AIE mean?

The inverter output is shut off if an incorrect signal type or magnitude (e.g., 30mA+ current or 7.5V+ voltage) was detected on terminal 2 or 4, contrary to the parameter settings for current input. This indicates a mismatch between the physical input signal and the configured analog input type.

Common Causes

  • Analog input wiring error: connecting a voltage source to a current input terminal (or vice-versa), or incorrect polarity.
  • Input signal exceeding the configured range (e.g., 10V signal applied when Pr.73 set for 0-5V, or 25mA current when Pr.73 set for 0-20mA).
  • Damage to the analog input terminal (e.g., short circuit to ground or another potential) or the internal analog-to-digital converter.
  • Parameter Pr.73 (Terminal 2 input selection) or Pr.267 (Terminal 4 input selection) incorrectly configured for the applied signal type/range.
  • External sensor or signal generator malfunction producing an out-of-range or erratic output signal.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Measure the actual analog input signal (voltage or current) directly at inverter terminals 2 and 4 using a multimeter.

  2. 2

    2. Verify Pr.73 (Terminal 2 input selection) and Pr.267 (Terminal 4 input selection) are set correctly for the incoming signal type (e.g., 0-5V, 0-10V, 4-20mA).

  3. 3

    3. Check analog input wiring for correct polarity, shielding, and absence of short circuits to ground or other potentials.

  4. 4

    4. Temporarily disconnect the external analog signal source from terminals 2 and 4 and verify the fault clears.

  5. 5

    5. If using 4-20mA, measure the current loop to ensure it's not open (expected: 4mA minimum signal).
