E.OP1

Communication Option Fault

Mitsubishi Electric · Mitsubishi FR-E800 Variable Frequency Drive

What does E.OP1 mean?

The inverter output is shut off due to a communication line error in the installed communication option. This can stem from incorrect option settings, a loose plug-in option card, or a damaged communication cable, including improper termination. Loss of communication functionality can disrupt system control.

Common Causes

  • Loose or improperly seated communication option card (e.g., network card like CC-Link, Profibus, Ethernet IP) in its slot.
  • Damaged communication cable (e.g., broken wires, poor shielding) connecting the option card to the network.
  • Incorrect network parameter settings on the option card (e.g., baud rate, station address, data format) not matching the network master.
  • Bus termination resistor issues (missing, incorrect value, or incorrectly placed) causing signal reflections on the communication bus.
  • Hardware failure of the communication option card itself or the inverter's main board interface to the option card.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power down the inverter, reseat the communication option card firmly into its slot, and verify all securing screws are tightened.

  2. 2

    2. Inspect the communication cable for visible damage and verify continuity of all conductors using a cable tester.

  3. 3

    3. Review and verify all communication parameters (e.g., Pr.117 Function selection for communication, network-specific parameters) against the network master's configuration.

  4. 4

    4. Check bus termination resistors at both ends of the communication bus (if applicable, e.g., RS485, Profibus) to ensure correct value and placement.

  5. 5

    5. Use network diagnostic tools (if available) to monitor communication activity and identify message errors or packet loss.
