E.RET

Retry Count Excess

Mitsubishi Electric · Mitsubishi FR-E800 Variable Frequency Drive

What does E.RET mean?

The inverter output is shut off because an automatic fault recovery attempt (retry) failed to resolve a preceding fault within the number of retries configured in Pr.67 Number of retries at fault occurrence. This means the underlying problem persists despite multiple attempts to restart, preventing the inverter from resuming normal operation.

Common Causes

  • Underlying persistent fault (e.g., overcurrent, overvoltage) preventing successful retry.
  • Parameter Pr.67 (Number of retries at fault occurrence) set too low for transient issues.
  • Mechanical binding or excessive load causing repeated motor stall or overcurrent during startup.
  • Intermittent sensor fault (e.g., encoder noise) triggering fault and retry sequence repeatedly.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Review the fault history (e.g., Pr.100 fault history record) to identify the specific fault that triggered the retry sequence.

  2. 2

Inspect the motor and driven equipment for any mechanical binding or excessive friction points.

  3. 3

Increase Pr.67 (Number of retries at fault occurrence) temporarily to 5 or 10 to observe if the underlying fault is transient.

  4. 4

Verify the power supply voltage stability during motor startup and operation using a multimeter (e.g., at terminals R/S/T).

  5. 5

Measure motor current during startup and normal operation to compare against motor nameplate data and Pr.9 (Rated current).
