Left lamp lights up

Outdoor Control System Memory Corruption (Continuous Light)

Mitsubishi Electric · Mitsubishi MSZ-FH06-18NA Heat Pump System

What does Left lamp lights up mean?

A continuously lit left lamp signifies a critical memory reading failure on either the inverter P.C. board or the outdoor electronic control P.C. board. This error means the outdoor unit's core control system cannot initialize or function correctly, rendering the entire air conditioning system inoperable. It often indicates a hardware fault requiring board replacement.

Common Causes

  • Severe corruption of the boot-up firmware or core configuration data in the nonvolatile memory of the inverter P.C. board or outdoor control P.C. board.
  • Hardware failure of the memory chip itself (e.g., EEPROM, Flash) or its dedicated controller on the P.C. board.
  • Critical voltage instability or power supply rail failure on the P.C. board during startup, preventing proper memory initialization.
  • Permanent damage to the data bus connecting the CPU to the memory, often due to ESD or physical stress.
  • Attempted firmware update that failed critically, leaving the memory in an unbootable state.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Disconnect main power to the outdoor unit for an extended period (e.g., 10-15 minutes) to ensure all capacitors are discharged and memory is fully reset.

  2. 2

Verify all power supply voltages (e.g., 5VDC, 12VDC, 15VDC) are stable and within tolerance on the outdoor control P.C. board and inverter P.C. board at their respective test points.

  3. 3

Visually inspect the outdoor control P.C. board and inverter P.C. board for any signs of physical damage (e.g., burnt components, liquid damage, cracked traces) especially around memory chips.

  4. 4

Check for proper seating of any socketed components or jumpers that might relate to memory or boot-up configuration. Clean contacts with electrical cleaner.

  5. 5

If the outdoor unit has a dedicated recovery mode or a way to force a firmware re-flash using a service tool, attempt this procedure as per the manufacturer's instructions.

  6. 6

If the issue persists, the critical nature of this memory error typically indicates a non-recoverable hardware fault on either the inverter P.C. board or the outdoor electronic control P.C. board, requiring replacement of the affected board.
