Overcurrent Error

Omron · NJ/NX-series Machine Automation Controller

What does 08490000 mean?

The current drawn by the motor has surpassed a predetermined protection threshold, indicating an excessive load or electrical anomaly within the motor or its wiring. This can cause damage to the motor or drive.

Common Causes

  • Short-circuit, ground fault, or contact failure on motor cables U, V, or W
  • Short-circuit on the wiring of the External Regeneration Resistor
  • Insulation breakdown between motor cables U, V, W and motor ground wire
  • False overcurrent detection due to electrical noise
  • Internal Servo Drive failure

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure insulation resistance between motor phases U-V, V-W, U-W, and between each phase (U, V, W) and motor ground. Expect values >1 MΩ.

  2. 2

Visually inspect motor cables U, V, W and their connections for signs of short-circuit, ground fault, or contact failure.

  3. 3

Inspect the wiring of the External Regeneration Resistor for any short-circuits.

  4. 4

Verify proper grounding and shielding of the Servo Drive and motor cables to mitigate noise.
