SERIAL COMMUNICATION FAULT

What does 117/118 mean?

Fault 117 occurs if serial communication does not start within 20 seconds after drive reset or power up. Fault 118 occurs if a valid serial communication message is not received for more than 150 milliseconds.

Common Causes

  • Host system is not connected or not sending valid messages.
  • Electrical grounding noise interference.
  • Serial communication is not being used, but parameter #110 is set to selection 3.
