CFF

Incorrect Configuration

Schneider Electric · Altivar Machine ATV320 Variable Speed Drive

What does CFF mean?

An invalid configuration was detected at power on. This usually indicates corrupted or incompatible settings within the drive, preventing it from starting or operating correctly. Operating with an invalid configuration can lead to unpredictable behavior or component damage.

Common Causes

  • Configuration file loaded from an incompatible drive model or a different firmware version.
  • Data corruption in the non-volatile memory (e.g., EEPROM or Flash) where parameters are stored.
  • Power supply interruption or brownout during a parameter write operation, leading to incomplete data storage.
  • Manual parameter entry errors or an invalid combination of interdependent parameters (e.g., motor type and control mode).
  • Firmware update failure, leaving the drive with an inconsistent software state at power-up.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power cycle the drive. If the fault persists, attempt to load a known-good backup configuration file (if available) using the drive's communication port.

  2. 2

    2. Perform a factory reset (e.g., set Parameter P0-01 = 0, then P0-01 = 2 for full reset) to clear all user parameters.

  3. 3

    3. Re-enter essential motor and application parameters manually, paying close attention to data types and ranges.

  4. 4

    4. Verify the firmware version of the drive via the HMI and compare it with the required version for the configuration being used.

  5. 5

    5. Check the drive's power supply stability (e.g., input voltage 380-480VAC) to rule out brownouts affecting memory writes.
