Motor protection Stop with inhibit

SEW Eurodrive · MCBSM

What does 84 mean?

The motor's utilization is too high, causing a stop with inhibit. This indicates the motor is being overloaded, potentially leading to overheating, winding damage, or premature failure if the high load condition persists.

Common Causes

  • Motor protection relay triggered a stop command while an inhibit signal was active.
  • Overcurrent condition detected by motor protection.
  • Thermal overload of motor windings.
  • Short circuit in motor windings.
  • Faulty motor protection relay preventing normal operation.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the P345/346 IN UL monitoring parameters for proper configuration.

  2. 2

Reduce the mechanical load on the motor to bring its utilization within limits.

  3. 3

Extend the acceleration and deceleration ramps to reduce peak current demands.

  4. 4

Implement longer pause times between operations to allow the motor to cool down.
