EEPROM Error

SEW Eurodrive · MOVIFIT SC

What does 25 mean?

This fault indicates an issue with reading from or writing to the unit's EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory), which stores configuration parameters and operational data. This can lead to lost settings, incorrect unit operation, or an inability to store new parameters or changes. If left unresolved, corrupted EEPROM data could prevent the unit from functioning correctly and require complete re-configuration.

Common Causes

  • Corrupted data within the EEPROM due to power fluctuations, abrupt power loss, or improper shutdown sequences.
  • Hardware fault of the EEPROM chip or its interface circuitry on the MOVIFIT control board.
  • Firmware bug causing erroneous or excessive EEPROM read/write operations, potentially exceeding its endurance limits.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) temporarily corrupting data during an EEPROM access operation.
  • Incompatibility between a newly loaded firmware version and existing EEPROM data structure.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Perform a controlled power cycle of the MOVIFIT unit by removing and re-applying 24VDC control power after 30 seconds.

  2. 2

Attempt to re-initialize or reset the unit to factory default parameters (P8-01 = 0), then re-load a known good parameter set via engineering software.

  3. 3

Verify the stability of the 24VDC control power supply at the MOVIFIT terminals using a multimeter.

  4. 4

Check for any firmware updates available for the MOVIFIT unit that specifically address EEPROM stability or data integrity issues.

  5. 5

If possible, perform a memory test or diagnostic function on the EEPROM via the unit's diagnostic interface to check its integrity.
