External Terminal Low Signal

SEW Eurodrive · MOVIFIT SC

What does 26 mean?

This fault is triggered when a low signal is detected on a specific terminal that has been configured for the '/External fault' function, primarily when the MOVIFIT unit operates as an SBUS slave. This indicates an issue with an external device connected to this terminal, signaling a fault condition from that external source. The low signal could be due to wiring issues, a faulty sensor, or an active fault in the connected external equipment, causing the MOVIFIT unit to stop operation.

Common Causes

  • Open circuit or broken wire on the external fault input terminal (e.g., X11:DIx) configured for '/External fault' function.
  • External safety device (e.g., emergency stop button, safety guard switch) connected to the input has been activated, opening its contact.
  • Faulty external sensor or switch providing the low signal, indicating a problem in the external system logic.
  • Incorrect wiring or poor connection at the external fault input terminal, leading to intermittent signal loss.
  • Loss of 24VDC auxiliary power supply to the external sensing device connected to the input terminal.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Identify the specific digital input terminal (e.g., X11:DI1) configured for '/External fault' function in drive parameters (e.g., P600).

  2. 2

Measure the voltage level at the identified digital input terminal relative to common (GND) to confirm it is low (e.g., 0VDC).

  3. 3

Trace the wiring from the MOVIFIT input terminal back to the external device (e.g., E-stop, limit switch) and check for continuity along the cable.

  4. 4

Verify the status of the external safety device or sensor connected to the input, ensuring it is in its normal, non-tripped state.

  5. 5

Check the 24VDC auxiliary power supply to the external sensing device, ensuring it is present and stable (e.g., 24VDC +/- 10%).
