Current Limit Exceeded

SEW Eurodrive · MOVIMOT® MM..D with AC Motor DT/DV / Operating Instruc

What does 44 mean?

This error is generated if the drive operates at its adjustable current limit for longer than 500 ms, occurring when additional function 2 (adjustable current limitation) is active and the operating frequency is above 15 Hz. Prolonged operation at current limit can indicate an overloaded condition.

Common Causes

  • Drive operating at the current limit for longer than 500 ms.
  • Adjustable current limit set too low via DIP switch f2 (Imax [%] of IN).
  • Excessive load on the drive when the monitoring function is active (above 15 Hz).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the mechanical load on the drive and reduce it if necessary.

  2. 2

Review the setting of DIP switch f2 for the adjustable current limit (Imax [%] of IN) and increase it if appropriate for the application.

  3. 3

Verify the operating frequency is above 15 Hz, as this monitoring function is active only then.

  4. 4

Reset the fault by switching off and then switching on the DC 24V supply voltage.

  5. 5

Reset the error via the error reset function.
