A07015

Drive: Motor Temperature Sensor Alarm

Siemens · DAsl Diagnostics and Alarms

What does A07015 mean?

An error was detected during the evaluation of the motor temperature sensor (configured via p0600 and p0601). This alarm indicates potential issues such as wire breakage, a disconnected sensor (KTY resistance > 1630 Ohm), or excessively low measured resistance (PTC < 20 Ohm, KTY < 50 Ohm). If this alarm persists for the duration set in p0607, it will escalate to fault F07016, potentially leading to motor damage.

Common Causes

  • Wire breakage or high resistance in the motor temperature sensor circuit between the motor and the drive's control unit (e.g., terminal X10).
  • Incorrect connection or loose terminal block for the KTY/PT1000 sensor at the motor terminal box or the drive side.
  • Motor temperature sensor (e.g., KTY84-130 or PT1000) damaged or open-circuited due to thermal stress or mechanical impact.
  • Parameter P0600 (Motor temperature sensor type) or P0601 (Motor temperature sensor connection) incorrectly configured for the installed sensor type.
  • Electrical noise interference on the sensor feedback lines causing intermittent signal fluctuations or out-of-range readings.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify parameter P0600 (Motor temperature sensor type) and P0601 (Motor temperature sensor connection) match the installed sensor (e.g., KTY84-130 or PT1000).

  2. 2

Power off the drive, disconnect motor temperature sensor leads at the drive (e.g., terminal X10), and measure resistance across the sensor input terminals. Compare reading to the sensor datasheet (e.g., KTY84-130: approx 580 Ohm at 20°C).

  3. 3

Inspect sensor wiring for visible damage, crushed sections, or loose connections at both the motor terminal box and the drive control unit (e.g., X10 terminals).

  4. 4

Measure continuity of each sensor wire from the motor terminal box to the drive terminal X10 using a multimeter to detect open circuits.

  5. 5

Ensure sensor cables are properly shielded and routed separately from power cables to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI).
