SI CU: Error During DRIVE-CLiQ Communication

Siemens · DAsl Diagnostics and Alarms

What does F01600 mean?

The drive-integrated 'Safety Integrated' (SI) function on the Control Unit (CU) has detected an error in the sign-of-life of safety data between the CU and a Motor Module (MM), or a time slice overflow of the safety software occurred. This indicates a critical communication error that initiates a STOP A, posing a safety risk and halting operation until resolved.

Common Causes

  • Loss of 'sign-of-life' or cyclic safety data between the Control Unit (CU) and a Motor Module (MM) via DRIVE-CLiQ communication.
  • DRIVE-CLiQ communication cable between CU and MM is faulty (e.g., damaged, poor connection), causing data corruption or complete loss.
  • Timing slice overflow within the Safety Integrated (SI) communication, indicating a delay or overload in data processing.
  • Internal hardware fault on the Safety Integrated module within the Control Unit or the affected Motor Module.
  • Incorrect configuration or parameterization of Safety Integrated functions, particularly relating to cyclic communication (e.g., P0970, P0971).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Inspect the DRIVE-CLiQ cable connecting the Control Unit (CU) and the affected Motor Module (MM) for physical damage or loose connections at both ends.

  2. 2

Power cycle the entire drive system to reset potential transient communication issues within the Safety Integrated (SI) communication path.

  3. 3

Verify the Safety Integrated configuration parameters (e.g., P0970, P0971, P0972) in the Control Unit, ensuring they match the system's safety requirements and module types.

  4. 4

Check for any available firmware updates for the Control Unit and Motor Module; older firmware versions might have known SI communication issues.

  5. 5

Perform a cross-test by swapping the DRIVE-CLiQ cable with a known good one from an operational system or a spare to rule out cable fault.
