F40005

Fault at DRIVE-CLiQ Socket X105

Siemens · DAsl Diagnostics and Alarms

What does F40005 mean?

A fault has been detected at the drive object connected to the DRIVE-CLiQ socket X105. The fault value (r0949) indicates the first fault that occurred for this specific drive object. This signifies an issue with the communication or the connected component on this particular DRIVE-CLiQ interface, which can lead to system malfunction or halt operations.

Common Causes

  • DRIVE-CLiQ cable connected to socket X105 is loose, damaged, or completely disconnected, interrupting communication.
  • The DRIVE-CLiQ component connected to X105 (e.g., Motor Module, Sensor Module, Encoder) has an internal hardware fault.
  • Faulty DRIVE-CLiQ interface circuitry on the Control Unit side specifically for socket X105.
  • Incorrect or incompatible component connected to DRIVE-CLiQ socket X105 (e.g., wrong module type or firmware mismatch).
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) severely disrupting DRIVE-CLiQ communication on that specific link.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Read the fault value in register r0949 associated with F40005; this will often point to the specific fault of the connected DRIVE-CLiQ device.

  2. 2

Power off the drive, then inspect and firmly re-seat the DRIVE-CLiQ cable at both the Control Unit's X105 socket and the connected drive object's (e.g., Motor Module) DRIVE-CLiQ port.

  3. 3

Check the DRIVE-CLiQ cable for physical damage (e.g., kinks, cuts, crushed sections) along its entire length. Replace with a known good, factory-approved DRIVE-CLiQ cable if any damage is found.

  4. 4

Swap the DRIVE-CLiQ cable from X105 with a known good cable from another functional DRIVE-CLiQ port (if available) to rule out cable failure.

  5. 5

If the cable is verified good, swap the connected DRIVE-CLiQ component (e.g., Motor Module, Sensor Module) with a known good unit to isolate the faulty component.
