The motor has exceeded its programmed temperature fault threshold, or the I2t thermal model indicates overtemperature. This can be caused by motor overload, high ambient temperature, or issues with the temperature sensor itself (wire breakage, incorrect connection). Prolonged overtemperature risks permanent motor damage.

Measure the surface temperature of the motor housing (e.g., at cooling fins, bearing shields) using an infrared thermometer.
Inspect the motor's cooling fan (if present) for proper rotation, and clean cooling fins or air passages of dust/debris.
Verify the actual mechanical load on the motor shaft against the motor's rated torque (e.g., check for binding in driven machine).
Check drive parameters P1-04 (Motor rated current), P1-05 (Motor rated speed), and P1-06 (Motor rated voltage) against the motor nameplate.
Measure the resistance of the motor's temperature sensor at the drive's sensor input terminals (e.g., X2-2, X2-3) and compare to the sensor datasheet.
Monitor the motor current (e.g., Parameter P2-01) under normal operating conditions and compare it to the motor's rated current (P1-04).
