C01700

STOP A initiated

Siemens · SINAMICS G120

What does C01700 mean?

A STOP A command has been initiated, typically as a consequence of another primary safety-related event such as C01701, C01706, C01714, or C01716 (or their C307xx equivalents). This action results in an uncontrolled stop by immediately removing power from the motor.

Common Causes

  • A preceding safety-related fault (e.g., C01701 (STOP B), C01706 (SAM/SBR limit exceeded)) has triggered the STOP A state.
  • An external safety relay or PLC output has commanded a STOP A state through the drive's safety inputs.
  • Internal safety logic within the drive detected an unsafe condition requiring a controlled ramp-down (STOP A) of the motor.
  • A safety monitoring function (e.g., Safe Torque Off STO) has transitioned from an active state to a fault state, cascading to STOP A.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Identify and resolve the primary safety fault or alarm (e.g., C01701, C01706) that triggered the STOP A.

  2. 2

    2. Verify the status of all safety input signals to the drive (e.g., STO, SS1, SBC) to ensure they are not active or faulted.

  3. 3

    3. Check the safety status parameters (e.g., r9756, r9757) in the drive for additional diagnostic information regarding the cause.

  4. 4

    4. Ensure that the drive's safety configuration (e.g., p9500 onwards) is correct and matches the application's safety requirements.

  5. 5

    5. Perform a safety reset (e.g., through p9699 or cycling specific safety inputs) after the root cause is addressed.
