F01641

Expected fault during component replacement

Siemens · SINAMICS G120

What does F01641 mean?

This fault is part of a group (F01641, F01650, F01680, F30680) that is expected to occur temporarily during specific corrective maintenance procedures, such as replacing a Control Unit or the entire inverter. It does not indicate a persistent problem if the full replacement and recommissioning steps are followed. The risk is negligible if acknowledged as part of the procedure.

Common Causes

  • Control Unit (CU) removed or not correctly seated in its slot during power-on, causing communication loss with the power module (PM).
  • Internal bus communication (e.g., DRIVE-CLiQ) interrupted or cables are loose/damaged during or after component replacement.
  • Power module detected a missing or incompatible Control Unit at system power-up.
  • Initial startup after component replacement where the new component requires a system configuration or firmware update before full operation.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Ensure all modular components, particularly the Control Unit, are correctly and firmly seated in their designated slots until mechanical locking mechanisms engage.

  2. 2

    2. Verify the integrity and proper connection of all internal bus cables (e.g., DRIVE-CLiQ) if applicable, checking for bends or loose connectors.

  3. 3

    3. Perform a complete power cycle of the entire drive system after confirming all components are securely installed and connections are tight.

  4. 4

    4. Check for specific status LEDs on the Control Unit or Power Module that indicate proper seating, communication, or initialization (e.g., green RUN LED).

  5. 5

    5. Confirm that all necessary fastening screws or latches are secured to hold components in place, preventing vibration-induced disconnections.
