F30621

Safe Stop 1 active

Siemens · SINAMICS G120

What does F30621 mean?

The Safe Stop 1 (SS1) function is active, meaning the motor is brought to a standstill via a controlled ramp, and then STO is activated. This is a safety state initiated to safely stop the motor, not necessarily a fault.

Common Causes

  • SS1 safety input (e.g., dedicated terminal or Profisafe message) has been activated by an external safety controller.
  • External safety device (e.g., light curtain, safety mat) detected a hazardous condition and commanded SS1.
  • Upstream process condition (e.g., guarding open) triggered the SS1 function for a controlled stop.
  • Break in the SS1 feedback loop, indicating an uncontrolled stop or failure to reach zero speed within tolerance.
  • Parameterization error in SS1 ramp time (P30602) or braking torque (P1520) leading to activation failure.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the status of the SS1 safety input signals by measuring voltage at the dedicated terminals (e.g., X1:DI2, X1:DI3) or checking Profisafe status word (r0945.x).

  2. 2

Verify the external safety chain elements (e.g., light curtains, safety mats) are in a safe state (e.g., no object detected).

  3. 3

Monitor motor speed via r0021 during the deceleration phase to confirm controlled ramp within tolerance (P30602).

  4. 4

Ensure the SS1 ramp time (P30602) is correctly set and not excessively long, preventing STO from activating prematurely or too late.

  5. 5

Reset the safety input or the upstream safety controller (e.g., F-PLC) to remove the SS1 activation command after clearing the trigger condition.
