Input Pressure Supervision Fault

Vacon · 100 FLOW Application Guide

What does 109 mean?

The input pressure supervision signal (P3.13.9.2) has dropped below either the alarm limit (ID 1109) or the fault limit (ID 1409), indicating an issue with the system's input pressure. This could affect pump or process operation, potentially leading to cavitation, poor performance, or system shutdown.

Common Causes

  • Clogged filter element in the pressure transducer's sensing line, restricting fluid flow and causing a false low reading.
  • Faulty pressure transducer (e.g., 4-20mA sensor) providing an incorrect low signal to the PLC/drive input (P3.13.9.2).
  • Air or gas ingress into the hydraulic or pneumatic input line, leading to pressure fluctuations and a drop below set limits.
  • Physical leak in the input pressure line or associated fittings, causing actual pressure loss.
  • Parameter P3.13.9.2 (Input Pressure Fault Limit) or P3.13.9.1 (Input Pressure Alarm Limit) set incorrectly too high for normal operating conditions.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Verify actual system input pressure using a calibrated mechanical pressure gauge at the transducer's measurement point.

  2. 2

    2. Inspect the pressure sensing line for blockages, kinks, or leaks, and clean/repair as necessary.

  3. 3

    3. Measure the output signal of the pressure transducer (e.g., voltage or current) and compare it to its datasheet specifications for the measured pressure.

  4. 4

    4. Review parameters P3.13.9.1 (Alarm Limit) and P3.13.9.2 (Fault Limit) in the controller, ensuring they are appropriate for the application's operating range.

  5. 5

    5. Disconnect the pressure transducer and apply a known pressure source to its input while monitoring the controller's input (P3.13.9.2) value.
