Unbalance

Vacon · 100 FLOW Application Guide

What does 18 mean?

This is a warning (not a fault trip) indicating an unbalance between power modules in paralleled units. Subcodes specify if the unbalance is in current or DC-Voltage.

Common Causes

  • Unequal current sharing between parallel power modules in a multi-drive setup.
  • Mismatch in impedance between parallel power paths.
  • Failure or derating of one or more power modules.
  • Incorrect load balancing configuration.
  • Control loop instability affecting current distribution.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify impedance matching for all parallel power modules.

  2. 2

Measure current output from each individual power module if possible.

  3. 3

Check status of individual power modules for any signs of failure or derating.

  4. 4

Confirm parameter settings for parallel operation are correctly applied to all drives.

  5. 5

Ensure load distribution is balanced across all connected modules.
