Motor Control Fault

Vacon · 100 FLOW Application Guide

What does 25 mean?

This fault, specific to customer-specific applications, indicates a malfunction during the start angle identification process. Possible causes include rotor movement during identification or a mismatch between the new and old angle values. This prevents accurate motor control and startup.

Common Causes

  • Rotor movement or external mechanical disturbance occurring during the motor identification routine (e.g., P9-01 AutoTune function).
  • Incorrect motor parameters (e.g., P3-01 to P3-08) entered into the drive, leading to an inability to accurately identify motor characteristics.
  • Motor current too low or too high (e.g., motor <10% or >150% of drive rating) for successful identification.
  • Sensorless vector control algorithm failing due to excessive load variation or mechanical play during startup.
  • Motor connection issues (e.g., open phase, high resistance contact) preventing a stable current measurement during the test.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Ensure the motor is completely decoupled from the mechanical load or that the load is absolutely stationary before initiating any auto-tune function (e.g., P9-01 set to 1).

  2. 2

Verify all motor nameplate parameters (P3-01 to P3-08) are accurately entered into the drive, paying close attention to motor rated current and voltage.

  3. 3

Confirm motor cable connections (U, V, W) are tight and free of corrosion at both the motor and drive terminals.

  4. 4

If the motor is exceptionally small or large compared to the drive's rating, consider if it's within the drive's operating envelope for accurate identification.

  5. 5

Attempt to run the motor in V/Hz control mode (e.g., P1-01 set to 0) to verify basic motor operation before re-attempting advanced control.
