Start Prevented

Vacon · 100 FLOW Application Guide

What does 76 mean?

The drive's start command has been blocked, primarily to prevent accidental motor rotation, especially during the initial power-up sequence. This is a safety feature to ensure the system is in a known, safe state before operation. The drive will not operate until this prevention is cleared.

Common Causes

  • An active safety interlock signal (e.g., Safe Torque Off via terminals STO1/STO2) is preventing motor start.
  • The drive is in a fault state and requires a fault reset before a start command can be accepted (check status word P0-01).
  • Parameter P1-11 (Auto Restart) is set to 'No' or 'Fault Reset Only', preventing automatic restart after power-up or fault.
  • The speed reference command is zero, and the minimum speed parameter (P1-01) is set above zero, requiring a non-zero reference.
  • External run command via digital input is not active, or a communication link (fieldbus) is not sending a valid run command.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Verify the status of all safety inputs (e.g., STO terminals, emergency stop circuits) and ensure they are disengaged.

  2. 2

    2. Check the drive's status word (P0-01) for any active faults and perform a fault reset if required.

  3. 3

    3. Confirm the speed reference input (e.g., analog input terminal AI1 or fieldbus reference) is providing a non-zero value.

  4. 4

    4. Review parameter P1-11 (Auto Restart) and adjust it if a different automatic start behavior is desired.

  5. 5

    5. Measure the voltage across the digital input terminals configured for the run command (e.g., DI1 to GND) to confirm signal presence.

  6. 6

    6. If using fieldbus, confirm the fieldbus master is actively sending a run command bit in its output data.
