EEPROM checksum fault

Vacon · NXS NXP

What does 22 mean?

An error occurred during the saving of parameters to the EEPROM, or the checksum of the stored parameters is incorrect. This indicates a potential operational malfunction or a defective memory component within the drive. This fault can lead to the loss of drive parameters, causing the drive to operate with default or incorrect settings.

Common Causes

  • Sudden power interruption or brownout during the parameter save operation to EEPROM, leading to corrupted data.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) disrupting the data write process to the EEPROM memory chip.
  • Degradation or failure of the EEPROM memory component itself on the control board.
  • Corruption of the parameter set in RAM before writing to EEPROM, possibly due to a software anomaly.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Attempt to re-save the parameters to EEPROM (e.g., using "Save Parameters" function in the drive menu or via software) and observe if the fault reoccurs.

  2. 2

Perform a parameter reset to factory defaults (e.g., Parameter P0-00 = 10 "Factory Default") and then re-enter necessary application parameters.

  3. 3

Check the stability of the control voltage supply (e.g., 24VDC) to the drive's control board for fluctuations or noise using a multimeter.

  4. 4

Ensure proper grounding and shielding of control wiring to mitigate potential EMI sources near the drive.

  5. 5

If the fault persists after parameter reset and re-entry, consider replacing the drive's control board as the EEPROM may be defective.
