Device changed (different type)

Vacon · NXS NXP

What does 44 mean?

An option board or power unit has been replaced with a device of a different type or power rating. The drive detects this incompatibility and requires a complete reconfiguration. If parameters are not correctly reset and adjusted, the drive may operate incorrectly, become unstable, or fail to start.

Common Causes

  • Replacement of an option board with a physically different type (e.g., a Profibus board replaced with an Ethernet board) without updating drive parameters.
  • Installation of an option board with a different firmware version or hardware revision than previously configured.
  • Power unit replacement with one of a different voltage or current rating, causing hardware mismatch.
  • Drive's internal configuration (e.g., parameter P7-01 (Slot X config)) does not match the newly installed hardware.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Power down the drive completely and verify zero voltage on DC bus terminals.

  2. 2

Identify the recently changed option board or power unit.

  3. 3

Confirm the type and part number of the newly installed component against the application requirements.

  4. 4

Review parameter P7-01 (Slot X Configuration) for the slot where the change occurred.

  5. 5

Adjust parameter P7-01 to "0" (No option board), then power cycle the drive.

  6. 6

Reconfigure the slot by setting P7-01 to the correct value for the newly installed board type and save parameters.
