Stuck Key Error (Adv. Code 0)

Vacon · X4

What does 29 mean?

This fault is triggered if the drive detects a persistent key press during power-up. This can be caused by a faulty keypad button or a user inadvertently holding a key down while powering on the drive. This prevents proper initialization and operation via the keypad.

Common Causes

  • Faulty keypad button mechanically stuck in a pressed position during power-up.
  • Keypad membrane damage allowing continuous electrical contact between button traces.
  • Debris lodged underneath a keypad button, causing persistent contact.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power down the drive. Visually inspect all keypad buttons for physical damage, foreign objects, or sticky residue.

  2. 2

    2. Gently press and release each keypad button several times to dislodge any potential debris and verify spring-back action.

  3. 3

    3. If supported, temporarily disconnect the keypad unit and power on the drive to determine if the keypad is the fault source.

  4. 4

    4. If the fault clears after keypad disconnection, the keypad unit requires replacement.
