CPF01

Operator Communication Fault 2

Yaskawa · E7 Drive

What does CPF01 mean?

After communication started with the digital operator, a communication fault occurred for 2 seconds or more. This indicates a problem with the digital operator cable, the operator unit, or the control board, leading to intermittent or lost local control.

Common Causes

  • Intermittent connection or poor contact in the digital operator cable or its connectors due to vibration or wear.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) disrupting the communication signals between the drive and the operator panel.
  • Faulty digital operator unit hardware experiencing intermittent communication dropouts.
  • Drive control board internal communication circuitry experiencing intermittent failure.
  • Rapid power cycling or momentary voltage fluctuations affecting the stability of the communication link.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Firmly re-seat the digital operator cable connectors at both the drive's operator port and the digital operator panel.

  2. 2

Replace the digital operator cable with a known-good, shielded cable to rule out cable damage or susceptibility to EMI.

  3. 3

Temporarily re-route the operator cable away from power lines or other known sources of high electromagnetic fields.

  4. 4

Test with a different digital operator panel to determine if the issue is with the original operator unit.

  5. 5

Check the drive's event log for any other faults that occurred concurrently, which might indicate system-wide instability.

  6. 6

Verify stable input power voltage to the drive using a multimeter, checking for transient sags or surges.
