Yaskawa · E7 Drive
This fault indicates a failure of the dynamic braking transistor. Common causes include a shorted dynamic braking transistor, consistently high DC bus voltage, or a defective dynamic braking resistor. This condition can lead to uncontrolled energy dissipation or damage to the drive's power stage.
Click steps to track your progress.
Safely disconnect all power to the drive and wait for the DC bus indicator to extinguish (below 50VDC).
Measure resistance between the DC bus positive (+) terminal and the braking output terminal (DB) using a multimeter; expect open circuit.
Measure resistance between the DC bus negative (-) terminal and the braking output terminal (DB); expect open circuit. A low resistance indicates a shorted transistor.
Verify the dynamic braking resistor's integrity by measuring its resistance directly across its terminals and comparing it to the specified value (e.g., 50 Ohms).
Inspect all wiring between the drive's DB terminals and the dynamic braking resistor for any signs of damage or short circuits.
Check drive parameters related to braking (e.g., Parameter P3-01 Braking resistor value, Parameter P3-02 Braking resistor duty cycle) to ensure they match the connected hardware and application requirements.
