CPF02

Control Circuit Error

Yaskawa · GA500 Maintenance and Troubleshooting

What does CPF02 mean?

This code indicates a generic hardware problem within the drive's control circuit. This suggests an internal malfunction that could prevent safe and reliable operation and may require internal component inspection or replacement.

Common Causes

  • Failure of internal digital output drivers or logic on the control board responsible for signaling status or activating internal components.
  • Corruption of digital I/O configuration parameters (e.g., P5-01, P5-02) leading to incorrect signal routing or detection.
  • Short circuit or overcurrent condition detected by internal protection circuitry on a digital output channel (e.g., for internal relays or indicators).
  • Damage to the gate array or FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) responsible for processing digital I/O signals within the drive.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Save the current drive configuration by backing up all parameter settings (e.g., Parameter P0-01, P1-02) to a PC or backup module.

  2. 2

Remove all external control wiring (e.g., inputs to DI1-DI6, outputs from RO1-RO2) from the drive's control terminals to eliminate external influences.

  3. 3

Power down the drive by switching off the main breaker and waiting 5 minutes for full discharge of DC bus capacitors.

  4. 4

Carefully examine the control terminal block and surrounding board area for bent pins, loose connections, or corrosion that could affect digital signals.

  5. 5

Perform an insulation resistance test (Megger) on the motor cables (U, V, W to Ground) if motor rotation was active before the fault, to rule out motor insulation breakdown affecting drive output stages.

  6. 6

If possible, restore default parameters (Parameter P9-02) and then reload the saved configuration; retest drive operation without external control connections first.
