Yaskawa · GA500 Maintenance and Troubleshooting
An external fault signal was received via MFDI terminal S1, possibly due to a problem with the connected external device, faulty wiring, or a misconfiguration where parameter H1-01 is set for an external fault (range 20 to 2F) but the terminal is not actively utilized. This will cause the drive to trip and stop the motor, potentially disrupting the process.
Click steps to track your progress.
1. Measure the voltage potential between MFDI terminal S1 and the common terminal (e.g., SN, S+) to determine its state.
2. Verify the status of the external device connected to S1 (e.g., limit switch, thermal overload relay).
3. Check parameter H1-01 to confirm it is correctly assigned for the intended S1 function (e.g., External Fault).
4. Disconnect the wire from MFDI terminal S1 and observe if the EF1 fault clears.
5. Inspect the wiring from the external device to S1 for damage, loose connections, or proper shielding.
6. Temporarily configure parameter H1-01 to a non-fault function (e.g., "Run") to rule out internal drive issue with S1 input.
