External Fault (Terminal S2)

What does EF2 mean?

An external fault signal was received via MFDI terminal S2, possibly due to a problem with the connected external device, faulty wiring, or a misconfiguration where parameter H1-02 is set for an external fault (range 20 to 2F) but the terminal is not actively utilized. This will cause the drive to trip and stop the motor, potentially disrupting the process.

• External device connected to MFDI terminal S2 (e.g., E-stop button contact) is active, signaling a fault condition.
• Damaged or loose wiring connection between the external device and MFDI terminal S2.
• Parameter H1-02 is incorrectly set to "External Fault" when S2 should perform a different function.
• Transient voltage spike or ground loop causing an erroneous signal on the S2 input.
• Faulty relay contact or sensor output connected to S2.

   1. Measure the voltage potential between MFDI terminal S2 and the common terminal (e.g., SN, S+) to determine its state.
