oL3

Overtorque Detection 1

Yaskawa · GA500 Maintenance and Troubleshooting

What does oL3 mean?

This fault indicates that the machine has encountered a mechanical lock or the drive parameters are incorrectly configured for the load. The drive triggers this fault when its output current exceeds the level set in L6-02 for a duration longer than L6-03. Prompt resolution is crucial to prevent mechanical damage to the machine or motor.

Common Causes

  • Mechanical jam or blockage in the driven equipment, preventing shaft rotation.
  • Inertia of the load is too high for the motor or the acceleration time is set too short (e.g., C1-01 [Acceleration Time 1]).
  • Motor is undersized for the application's continuous or peak torque requirements.
  • Overtorque detection level (e.g., L6-01 [Overtorque Detect Level]) is set too low for the application.
  • Insufficient motor voltage (e.g., due to line voltage sag) leading to reduced available torque.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Mechanically inspect the driven machine for any jams, blockages, or excessive friction.

  2. 2

    2. Increase acceleration time (e.g., C1-01) in small increments to allow smoother ramp-up.

  3. 3

    3. Adjust the Overtorque Detect Level (e.g., L6-01) to a value suitable for the application's peak loads.

  4. 4

    4. Verify motor rated current (P2-01) and motor rated torque (derived from P2-04, P2-05) parameters are correct.

  5. 5

    5. Monitor output current (e.g., U1-04 [Output Current]) during operation to identify peak loads and adjust thresholds accordingly.

  6. 6

    6. Perform a mechanical coupling inspection between the motor and load for damage or misalignment.
