Keypad Connection Fault

Yaskawa · GA500 Maintenance and Troubleshooting

What does oPr mean?

This fault indicates that the keypad is either not securely connected to the drive or its connection cable is damaged or disconnected. It specifically triggers if keypad disconnect detection is enabled (o2-06=1) and the run command is from the keypad or the drive is operating in LOCAL mode with the keypad. An insecure connection prevents proper control and monitoring of the drive.

Common Causes

  • Keypad cable is disconnected or loosely connected to the drive's interface port.
  • Physical damage to the keypad cable (e.g., cut, pinched, bent pins in connector).
  • Corrosion or dust buildup on the keypad connector pins or the drive's receptacle.
  • Keypad module itself is faulty or has experienced internal component failure.
  • Drive parameter (e.g., H5-01 [Keypad Disconnect Detect]) is enabled and the keypad is physically removed or fails to communicate.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power down the drive and visually inspect the keypad cable for any visible damage.

  2. 2

    2. Carefully disconnect and then firmly re-connect the keypad cable to the drive's port.

  3. 3

    3. Clean the keypad connector pins and the drive's receptacle using a non-residue electronic cleaner.

  4. 4

    4. If possible, try a known good spare keypad or cable to isolate the fault.

  5. 5

    5. Disable keypad disconnect detection (e.g., set parameter H5-01 to "0") if a permanent external control is used and the keypad is not essential for operation.

  6. 6

    6. Check the tension and integrity of any mounting screws or clips holding the keypad in place.
