Loss of Prime

What does LOP mean?

The pump load (based on P1-18) dropped below P1-19 for P1-20 time, and output frequency rose above P1-21. This fault is effective when P1-22 (Loss of Prime Selection) is set to 0 (fault).

Common Causes

  • Dry well conditions.
  • Air ingress into the pump system.
  • Absence of water in the pump system.

    Check for a dry well, air in the system, or no water in the system.

  2. 2

    Restart the pump using the preferred priming method suggested by the pump manufacturer.

  3. 3

    Set the Loss of Prime fault characteristics using parameters P1-18, P1-19, P1-20, and P1-21.

  4. 4

    Control drive response to this condition using P1-21 (Loss of Prime Selection).

  5. 5

    Control auto-restart of this fault using L5-51 (Loss of Prime Fault Retry Selection) and P1-23 (Loss of Prime Maximum Restart Time after Fault).
