AMA motor too small

Danfoss · VLT HVAC Drive FC 102

¿Qué significa 54 ?

The connected motor is too small for the Automatic Motor Adaptation (AMA) function to operate successfully. This indicates an incompatibility or misapplication, preventing proper motor characterization and potentially leading to suboptimal performance or inadequate motor protection. The drive may struggle to accurately control or protect such a small motor.

Causas comunes

  • Motor nominal current (P1-22) is significantly below the minimum current required by the drive for accurate AMA measurements.
  • Motor nominal power (P1-20) is substantially smaller than the frequency converter's rated power, leading to poor signal-to-noise ratio during testing.
  • Drive's internal algorithms cannot accurately resolve motor parameters due to the extremely low impedance characteristics of a very small motor.
  • High electrical noise on the power lines affecting the precision of low-current measurements during AMA.
  • Incorrectly entered motor data (e.g., P1-21 Motor Voltage too high for the motor) leading the drive to perceive the motor as even smaller.

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Verify that the motor's nominal current (P1-22) and power (P1-20) are within the recommended minimum limits for the frequency converter (typically >10% of drive rating).

  2. 2

Confirm all motor nameplate data (P1-20 through P1-24) is accurately entered in the drive parameters.

  3. 3

Ensure the frequency converter is appropriately sized for the motor; consider if the motor is excessively small for the drive model.

  4. 4

If the motor is indeed very small, consider selecting a static AMA type (P1-25) if available, as it may be less sensitive to motor size.

  5. 5

Consult the drive manual for minimum motor sizing requirements for successful Automatic Motor Adaptation.
