External Fault (Terminal S7)

¿Qué significa EF7 ?

This fault indicates that an external device triggered a fault via the Multi-Function Digital Input (MFDI) terminal S7, or there is incorrect wiring to S7, or the terminal is incorrectly configured for an external fault despite not being in use. This causes the drive to halt operation based on an external signal, potentially stopping connected machinery.

• A specific process condition monitored by a sensor connected to terminal S7 has gone out of acceptable range (e.g., flow switch, level switch).
• Damaged or faulty wire leading to terminal S7, resulting in an open or short circuit.
• Drive parameter P2-07 (or equivalent) for S7 is set to an incorrect function or its logic is inverted relative to the external device.
• Failure of the sensor or transducer itself that is providing the input to S7.
• Voltage drop or transient on the 24VDC control supply affecting the external sensor connected to S7.

   Visually inspect the wiring connected to terminal S7 for any signs of damage or loose connections.

   Check the actual process condition that the external sensor (connected to S7) is monitoring (e.g., flow, level, temperature).

   Confirm drive parameter P2-07 (or equivalent) is set for the correct external fault function and contact type.

   Measure the voltage at terminal S7 relative to SC (common) using a multimeter to verify the input signal.

   Disconnect the external device from S7 and apply a known good signal (e.g., jumper S7 to SC) to see if the fault clears.

   Verify the 24VDC control supply voltage (e.g., at terminal +24) for stability and correct level, as it often powers external sensors.
