Battery alarm signal
Fanuc · i Series CNC Hardware
What does BAL mean?
This signal indicates a low battery condition for the Fanuc i Series CNC, typically affecting the SRAM or pulse coder backup. Loss of battery power can result in the loss of critical parameters, programs, and absolute position data.
Common Causes
- Depleted or low voltage battery for memory or absolute pulse coder backup.
- Prolonged power-off state causing the battery to discharge.
- Poor or corroded battery connections.
- Faulty battery holder or charging circuit (if applicable).
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Measure the battery voltage; replace the battery if it falls below the specified threshold, typically 3V for a 3.6V battery.
- 2
Replace the battery with a new one of the correct type (e.g., A02B-0236-K102 or equivalent) while the Fanuc i Series CNC is powered ON to prevent data loss.
- 3
Inspect battery terminals and connections for corrosion, looseness, or damage.
- 4
After replacement, verify that the alarm clears and check for data integrity and correct absolute position settings if an absolute pulse coder is used.
