d4

Position data change exceeded expected range

Fanuc · Series 30i/31i/32i-MODEL B Plus

What does d4 mean?

A change in position data reported by the serial sensor was detected as exceeding the anticipated range. If this alarm occurs at machine startup, it can stem from a parameter setting error or cable shielding issues. If it arises during normal machine operation, a cable shielding problem is the more likely cause, suggesting an anomaly in position feedback.

Common Causes

  • Parameter setting error related to sensor configuration (if alarm occurs at start-up)
  • Inadequate shielding of the cable between the sensor (serial) and Spindle Amplifier

Repair Steps

  1. 1

Refer to the 'Parameters Related to Start-up' section in the FANUC AC SPINDLE MOTOR αi series Parameter Manual (B-65280EN) and verify all sensor setting parameters.

  2. 2

Check the shielding of the cable between the sensor (serial) and Spindle Amplifier for damage or improper termination.

  3. 3

Consult the 'Detectors' section in the FANUC SERVO AMPLIFIER αi series Descriptions (B-65282EN) for detailed information on cable specifications and installation.
