Inverter: IPM alarm (OH) (N axis)

Fanuc · Series 30i CNC

What does A. mean?

An Intelligent Power Module (IPM) overheat alarm has occurred for the N-axis. This indicates the IPM for the N-axis is operating at an excessively high temperature. This typically results from the motor being used under harsh conditions (e.g., heavy load) or a high ambient temperature around the SVM.

Common Causes

  • The motor is being used under a harsh condition.
  • The ambient temperature is high.
  • SVM failure.

Repair Steps

  1. 1

Verify the motor load for the N-axis is within its rated specifications.

  2. 2

Measure the ambient temperature around the SVM.

  3. 3

Verify adequate airflow to the SVM's heat sink and cooling components for the N-axis.
