x058

Motor Overtemperature (T1/T2 Input)

Lenze · SM29_05 Service Bulletin

What does x058 mean?

The motor temperature, as measured across inputs T1 and T2 from a PTC resistor or thermal contact, is too high (display OH8 on keypad). This condition is monitored by the MCTRL function and its response can be set via parameter C0585. Operating with this fault not eliminated can destroy the drive if C0585 is set to 'Warning' (2) or 'Off' (3). An 'open' cable on T1, T2 can act as an antenna and cause faults. Only one PTC resistor should be connected; multiple in series or parallel will result in incorrect temperature measurement.

Additional Steps

Steps 1–2 are listed in Priority Fix.

  1. 3

If a fixed resistor is connected to T1/T2, ensure R > 4 kΩ to activate the fault message, or R < 1 kΩ to prevent the fault message from activating.

  2. 4

Check parameter C0585. Set C0585 = 0 for a TRIP error message, C0585 = 2 for a warning signal, or C0585 = 3 to switch off monitoring (not recommended for full motor protection).

  3. 5

Ensure only a single PTC resistor is connected to T1, T2. If multiple motors are operated on one drive controller, use thermal contacts (NC contacts) connected in series for motor temperature monitoring.
