Safety Stop

Safety Stop

Mitsubishi Electric · FR-D700 Basic Inverter

What does Safety Stop mean?

The safety stop function has been activated, resulting in an immediate shutdown of the inverter outputs. This critical safety measure is typically triggered by an external safety device or a wiring issue across terminals S1 and SC, or S2 and SC, indicating an open circuit in the safety chain. If misconfigured or experiencing an internal failure, it can prevent normal operation or compromise machinery safety.

Complete Troubleshooting Guide

  1. 1

If the safety stop function is not being used, short across terminals S1 and SC, and across S2 and SC with shorting wires to enable drive.

  2. 2

If using the safety stop function, verify the correct wiring of terminals S1, S2, and SC, and ensure the external safety stop input source (e.g., safety relay module) is operating properly.

  3. 3

If the error persists when terminals S1/SC and S2/SC are correctly shorted (and drive is enabled via safety function), an internal failure might be the cause; contact your sales representative.

  4. 4

Refer to the Safety stop function instruction manual (BCN-A211508-000) for more detailed causes and countermeasures.
